In an effort to support Afghan refugees and bring the Nashville community together, Relief Without Borders and Tennessee Resettlement Aid assisted the Hispanic Family Foundation to host the 'Afghan Refugee Summer Giveback Bash' on June 16th at Plaza Mariachi.

With over 300 Afghan Refugees attending, this event sparked new friendships and connections between people of all backgrounds, and provided a sense of belonging to our new neighbors while being surrounded by the comfort and familiarity of their culture. Including traditional Afghan live music, entertainment, a warm halal meal, and classes on transitioning to life in America, we addressed several of the challenges that come with resettlement. There were fun activities for children including a bouncy house, crafts, and games. For the adults, health advice and check ups and a safe place to come together and learn.

We are thankful to Hispanic Family Foundation and Tennessee Resettlement Aid for co-hosting, and thank you to all the other amazing Nashville organizations who came together to make this event happen.
