Relief Without Borders Chosen as Philanthropy Partner for Model UN Conferences 2022

RWB Partners with Model UN Conferences,

BosMUN XXI x NAIMUN LIX

The world-renowned Model United Nations (MUN) has selected Relief Without Borders as their charity of choice to form a philanthropic partnership across multiple programs and prestigious conferences. Relief Without Borders is honored to work alongside Boston University’s 21st Invitational Model UN conference as well as Georgetown International Relations Association’s (GIRA) Model UN programs, the North American Invitational Model United Nations (NAIMUN) and the National Collegiate Security Conference (NCSC).

The BosMUN XXI conference took place from February 4th to 6th, 2022 at the Boston Marriott Copley Place. Its mission is to bring high school students together in a diverse and inclusive atmosphere to develop leadership and critical thinking skills, consider an array of issues on an international scale, and foster creative solutions by inheriting the role of UN representatives. Now more than ever, it is crucial to evaluate the global state of affairs in light of the disruption caused by the pandemic. With over 1,500 delegates in attendance, BosMUN XXI explored the world of diplomacy in the context of committees, allowing like-minded students to team up and collaborate with one another. Through political debates highlighting real world problems, students were able to comprehend the capabilities and restraints of foreign policy as they strive to preserve their selected country’s domestic policies in the face of negotiation and conflict.

NAIMUN LIX followed shortly after, held at the Washington Hilton from February 17th to February 20th, 2022. Since 1963, NAIMUN hosts more than 3,300 delegates at each conference in 40 realistic mini simulations with “unparalleled substantive rigor and innovation”, aiming to heighten the collective understanding of the international system from legal and political points of view. Surpassing traditional circuits, NAIMUN gets its reputation by confronting students with unconventional forums, assemblies, and corporate boards that expand the limits of Model UN and require delegates to rise to the challenge of adapting to the changing dynamic of international politics. NAIMUN is unique in that its parent organization, GIRA, is persistent in ensuring every student gets the opportunity to contribute to discussions, public speaking, or leadership activities for the enrichment of problem-solving and debating skills. The staff members oversee that all participants leave feeling empowered and supported.

Relief Without Borders is incredibly grateful to be partnered with an international learning platform for young people that upholds the same values and ideals. We will be following up shortly with the total amount raised by students of Model UN, and the plan of implementation to best leverage the funds toward our goals for the future!
